Dr. Sharifah Adlina Syed Abdullah is an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer which is commonly referred to in Bahasa Melayu as "Pegawai Tadbir Diplomatik" (PTD), considered the pillar of the Malaysian civil services. Her diverse career with the government of Malaysia includes working with the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) at the Prime Minister's Department and the Ministry of Finance in various capacities, adding 

her strength to nation building as Malaysia strives to become a high-income nation. Her interest in deposit insurance sparked off during her PhD candidature at the Universiti Malaya circa 2010-2013. In 2013, she won the Pacific-Basin Finance Journal Best Paper Award for her article entitled "Bank risk and deposit insurance premium in a dynamic panel model: Evidence from Malaysian dual banking system" at the Malaysian Finance Conference. 

She holds a PhD in Finance from Universiti Malaya, a Master of Science in International Economics, Banking and Finance from Cardiff University, United Kingdom and a Business Degree with Banking major from Universiti Utara Malaysia. She attended the Senior Leadership Programme: Leading Lasting Change at University of Oxford, United Kingdom and the Queen's University John Deutsch International Executive Programs on Investment Appraisal and Risk Analysis in Kingston, Canada. 

Banking and finance have always been her interest. Dr. Sharifah Adlina began her career with United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Bhd upon graduation. Although her actual job was not directly related to deposit insurance, but her interest in deposit insurance has never waned. She picked up where she left to write this book on deposit insurance differently from other authors. Although deposit insurance is a technical subject area, her book approach is readable and appealing for everyone. Her determination to fulfil this goal is seen through her artistic and creative illustrations as well as the arrangements of the book that she passionately undertook herself. With these fun facts illustrative book, Dr. Sharifah Adlina hopes to inspire and enlighten readers around the world on the importance of deposit insurance in the simplest way.
